Dave was born in West Seneca, New York and at an early age was greatly influenced by his two grandfathers; one a carpenter, the other a machinist.
Dave began working construction jobs during the summer months in high school, and further honed his skills by majoring in the Furniture program at Buffalo State University. After completing his degree, he worked various full-time positions in the field. Dave continued to develop a deep passion for Art and Design and decided to enrolled in the graduate Furniture Design program at Rhode Island School of Design.
After receiving his MFA in Furniture, Dave began freelancing out of his studio making custom furniture for local clients and designing picture frames for over seas manufacturing.
In 1996, he relocated from Providence, RI to Atlanta, GA and set up a studio close to Emory University. Dave began freelancing with local museums in the exhibition departments and also worked for Turner productions designing and building anchor desks for CNN. In addition, he began teaching adjunct 2D & 3D Design at Brenau University and Georgia Perimeter College.
While pursuing an established career in Furniture Design and Sculpture, Dave added the role as a home owner/ contractor to his repertoire. Within ten years time, he fully renovated three historic homes in Atlanta. ' I really enjoy taking a period style home and breathing new life into it. Although this process is lengthy, I could still find ways to be expressive. I believe it's the perfect balance between function, expression and creativity.
